2021 CFL Week 7 Predictions

Week 6 in the CFL saw quite a few blowouts and one loss due to a missed extra point late. Ottawa looked deflated, the Riders looked injured, Andrew Harris houdinied an ejection, Bo Levi was back and there was a lot more. I went 2-2 Straight Up and 2-2 Against the Spread in week 6 to bring my overall record to 10-13 in both categories this season. Let’s see how I see week 7 playing out.

(2-4) Calgary Stampeders @ (2-3) Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday 7:00pm ET

The Stamps are coming off a big win last week in Edmonton. Bo Levi Mitchell looked good in his return to the lineup and the defensive line was unreal. In a wide open West Division this is a huge game for Calgary if they want to climb back to the top(ish) after a tough start. Hamilton is in tough as they have to go down to their 3rd string QB David Watford for the game with injuries to Masoli and Evans. To make things worse Brandon Banks is still injured and will not play. I expect a big win from Calgary.

Prediction: Stampeders win 29-20

(3-2) Toronto Argonauts @ (3-2) Saskatchewan Roughriders Friday 9:45pm ET

The Argo’s pulled out a close one last week against Hamilton thanks to a missed extra point. It wasn’t the most beautifully played game offensively but they got the job done. Toronto heads into hostile territory this week and takes on a Riders team that is going to be hungry for a win after dropping two straight to their bitter rivals. It looks like Cody Fajardo will be cleared to play and I expect a huge bounce back game against Toronto.

Prediction: Roughriders win 28-24

(3-2) BC Lions @ (2-2) Montreal Alouettes Saturday 7:00pm ET

The Lions have had the pleasure of kicking around the Redblacks twice now and I’m not sure what to fully think of this team. They looked really good in both those games but Ottawa also looks like a USports team at this point. This should be a game where we see what BC is really made of. For Montreal they’ve been up and down for me. Their last time out was also a thorough beating of Ottawa. Vernon Adams has been hot and cold this year but if he is on the Alouettes offence will be tough to stop. I think Montreal eaks out a close one.

Prediction: Alouettes win 32-30

(5-1) Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ (2-3) Edmonton Elks Saturday 9:45pm ET

Winnipeg is the best team in the CFL right now and I don’t really think it is close. They are good in every facet of the game and their only weakness is their kicker. Winnipeg is rolling full steam ahead and I don’t really have much to add other than that. Edmonton has lost Trevor Harris to a neck injury so it will be former XFL QB Taylor Cornelius taking over under centre for the near future. That doesn’t seem like a positive for Edmonton in any way and I think it will show on the scoreboard on Saturday.

Prediction: Blue Bombers win 30-18

Week 7 Betting odds: (According to BetRegal as of Sept. 16)

CGY @ HAM: Take CGY +2.5

TOR @ SSK: Take SSK -3

BC @ MTL: Take BC +3.5

WPG @ EDM: Take WPG -6.5

We will see a couple of new starting QB’s in week 7 which is always exciting, and I look for Saskatchewan and Toronto to be the game of the week. It should be a great one. Thanks for reading!
